GRIF NO 22
For the GRIF NO 22 project, the „Spice Metal“ team crafted three bespoke glass and metal doors and a stainless steel shower partition. Two of the doors are over 3 metres high. The third one is arched. Its shape follows the historic arched niche of the old fort.
The glass and metal doors combine a black powder-coated metal frame, fluted laminated glass and minimalist folding Buster + Punch handles. The design of the handles subtly echoes other interior details, such as the switches, and keeps the space cohesive. An integrated lock ensures everyday security. For better acoustics, the doors are fitted with integrated acoustic drop seals. They close the gap at the floor when the door shuts and help keep sound between rooms.
The fluted glass is laminated with frosted glass. Light passes from room to room, yet each room keeps complete privacy. Laminated glass also adds safety, which matters on doors of this size.
Doors over 3 metres high leave little room for error. A tall metal frame has to stay straight and rigid, and the glass has to sit evenly along its full length. The proportions of the frame and the glass were carefully balanced, so each door looks light but stays solid in daily use.
The arched door had to follow the shape of the existing niche exactly. Its frame was made to measure for that one opening, so the new door sits naturally within the old walls of the fort.
For the bathroom, we made a stainless steel shower partition.
We took care of the whole process, from careful measuring and production to the final installation. Every piece was produced in our own workshop in Kaunas. Our team installed each element neatly and precisely, so the doors work smoothly from the first day.
